The Pope's condolences

I wonder if Europe understands how much the Holy Father truly cares for them, as a father cares for his children? I just finished reading the Hound of Heaven. Perhaps 'the German Shepherd' has always done precisely what any loving father would feel compelled to do for his children?

What does a shepherding dog do? It keeps the flock from harm; it guides and steers them. It nips their heels not out of malice, but at the command of the Shepherd, who loves His sheep.

Are we willing to be led by the One whose love will never fail to find us? Are we sheep or wolves?
