Good point

In the OSV Letters to the Editor, I found the following sentiment expressed:

"The evil of abortion will be eliminated only when it is eliminated from the hearts of mankind as a moral option. Unfortunately, we are a very long way from that. Until then, we are stuck with the laws we have. But do we have to pay for it, too? Abortion has been practiced for a long time in mankind's sordid history. It is only in the 20th century that politicians and lawyers came up with the idea of having the taxpayer pay for it. Banning abortion- that is, making it illegal- will not stop abortion. It will force it underground or over the border. Making the abortionists pay for it, removing any taxpayer support for this act, is the first step required to remove this evil yoke from us."

I couldn't have said it any better myself! Why are we not getting behind this idea more? Why aren't we insisting that private interests are paid for by private pockets? Maybe I've just been out of the loop for so long, this seems like news to me. But I'm sure it's very old hat. I just can't remember the last time I've heard this sentiment expressed and I wanted to broadcast it.
