The film adaptation of the Nativity Story suggests that the Star that guided the Magi was a singular collusion of three stars intensifying brightly into one. This notion was first brought to my attention two years ago when I found this website: www.starofbethlehem.net
What grabs my attention most is the notion that the 'guidance' of the star was not due to an anomalous stellar passage across the sky, a celestial phenomenon that seems unlikely; rather the website and the film indicate that the Magi were being guided by the 'narrative' of astrological interpretation.
If indeed the Star were clearly to be seen directly above Bethlehem, then Herod would not have relied upon the Magi to tell him where the king was to be born. So it would seem the Magi were following clues rather than watching a lightshow up in the sky. Something to wonder about.
