Teetotallers beware

That same book references the following scripture passage as proof that the Bible does not condemn the consumption of alcohol:

1 Tim 5:23 "Stop drinking water, but have a little wine for the sake of your stomach..."

The Protestant communities that forbid alcohol consumption claim to uphold Scripture. Yet nowhere do we see the scriptures forbidding consumption of alcohol. Indeed, as we know, Jesus' first miracle was the changing of water into wine. There is an important distinction between forbidding drunkenness, which the Bible does, and forbidding alcohol, which the Bible does not.

I thought this was amusing.
