Abortion and the Atom Bomb

Fr. Jerry Pokorsky connects the dots, referencing Ven Fulton Sheen, who saw that the bomb was the moment we decided we could do whatever we wanted. I've always viewed the 1970s as the nadir of human civilization, and it seems to have reached that point because it started going downhill at the dropping of the bomb.

This all presumes the US is the moral epicenter, but how could we really be so when our founding documents always contained a dichotomy between individual liberty and the protection of the common good? We got that wrong from the start. Individual liberty should always be at the service of the common good, not the other way around.

All of this calls to mind the trademarked motto of Feminists for Life, declaring: "Peace begins in the Womb" - Roe flows downriver from Hiroshima.

As we pray today to Our Lady of the Rosary, let us beg her to protect us from ourselves. Something worse than Lepanto is on the horizon.
