Mission territory

There aren't that many Catholic parishes in the Nova Scotian and
Island countryside. We passed a lot of very cute little Anglican
churches, but we'll have to wait until we're in Acadian regions-- I
mean regionnes d'acadienne- before we find some Papists.

Our host on P.E.I. is Catholic, and we will be attending mass celebrated
by an itinerant pastor.

It's been one breathtaking scene after another here in the Maritimes:
rocky coasts fringed with pine, lighthouses, and sailboats against a
brilliant blue backdrop.

Here's a scene we saw today at Peggy's Cove, a little destination outside Halifax:

I happen to love lighthouses, and this one
got multiple takes on my digital camera.

We just managed to catch the ferry after a day of sightseeing. Tomorrow we visit the L.M. Montgomery Festival, which takes place this weekend on the North Shore.

We may even meet the one Pitre family listed in the Island's phonebook. Who knows?

Viva Canada!
