All the Catholic blogs have been abuzz with the news about Thomas Reese, SJ. The former editor of America magazine was removed or moved on, depending on who you ask. I've been reluctant to post anything on the subject, or any such hot topic, because I don't want my blog to become a news source like the ones I check for all my news.
I was awaiting words of sensibility in the malaise. Click on the link above and you'll see what I mean. Everyone should take a deep breath and relax. The Inquisition is not upon us. The Pope is merely keeping up with his duties. Nothing to shout about. It's O K . Really.
I'm worried that my blog will become indistinguishable. After touring the blogosphere on the trail of that meme, I'm reminded of why I wanted to start a Catholic blog in the first place. There are so many people who use their blogs to express their ennui and discontent with life. It's like listening to the Alternative stations: postmodernism in soundwave form.
I wanted to put something life-giving out there. In return, I discovered a whole new world of Catholicism. I discovered CatholicLand!
But now that my unspoken hunger has been appeased, I'm in danger of losing my purpose. I sought more and I found it. I have entered a realm I didn't know existed and it has been my delight. There are curiosities around every corner. But I have also found myself trying to keep pace with all these bloggers. Once upon a time, I dedicated this blog to Bishop Fulton Sheen. I am reminded of his work in the newfound media of his day, radio and television. All of a sudden, you could be anywhere and everywhere; Sheen used that power to proclaim the Good News.
What am I doing in this flurry of blogging?
I am content to read all this content from now on, and only post what needs to be posted. If you see less activity from now on, it's because I'm listening, and waiting my turn to speak.
Right now, I feel a bit like the caterpillars in "Hope for the Flowers" (cheers to the first person who gets that reference).

If you've never read the book, "Hope for the Flowers" by Trina Paulus is about as hippie as they come--
BUT-- it is not outdated, for its message still rings true. It has a yellow cover, and it's one of a select few books on this planet with the typeface set in the author's own hand, even the copyright page!
As the subtitle says, it is "a tale~ partly about life, partly about revolution, and lots about hope, for adults and others (including caterpillars who can read)"
And, indeed, the main characters are Yellow and Stripe. Well done, Enbrethiliel!
