Prayers

I asked St. Joseph of Cupertino to pray for me during my flight yesterday. During my layover, I was just thinking to myself- "What will I do to pass away two hours?" when the loudspeaker announced there would be a Catholic mass available in the Interfaith Chapel located in the Mezzanine of the airport. Great! I love that airports support this kind of ministry.

There I was given a prayer card to Our Lady of Loreto, patronness of air travelers. This was news, because I thought St. Joey covered all things related to flight. He's the patron of pilots, so I suppose it was good to pray for the pilot. Plus, I had the numerous prayers of loved ones back home. And now I ask the Lord to be with me as I journey into the unknown.

Today is the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, my brother's patron. May I have the discipline and duty of this Soldier of Christ, and may I model the gentle fortitude of my brother.

Take, LORD, and receive
my liberty, my memory, my understanding,
my entire will-
all that I have and possess.
Thou hast given all to me;
to Thee, O Lord, I return it.
Give me only Thy love and Thy grace,
for that is sufficient for me.
