World Mission Sunday

Today the Church celebrates all its missionary activity throughout the world. Consider making a donation to the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith. They don't have a website, but you can request an envelope from your nearest Catholic parish, and they will mail your check to the right place. You can make an offering to honor a deceased relative, and the SPF will enroll that person's name in prayer. Contributions of $5 will feed a starving child for 25 days. $10 will provide a catechist to an area without priests. $25 will supply 8 lepers with a year's worth of medicine. $100 will supply a clinic with a year's worth of TB medicine. $500 will help putfit a mission school. $1500 will provide seminary training for a future priest.

If you've never given to your parish before, consider giving now. So much of the world needs food, literacy, medical care, and so much of the world needs to know the love of Jesus- through the love we share. Even if you can't afford to make a donation, make this week special by showing the love of Jesus to a friend in need. Be a part of World Mission Sunday by living out the mission to which EVERY human being is called: loving service. Offer to help a neighbor, volunteer at a local charity, or just smile more often and be a friendly coworker. Do something unexpectedly kind for someone. Make it a point to do it this week, and perhaps you will form a lifelong habit. Is there anything the world needs more?

Open WIDE the doors to Christ- in your heart and in the hearts of those around you!
